While it does take some time to set up, once you've configured it, the Kiwikset 909 is definitely worth the upgrade.

Ease of Use
Like a lot of kids, I knew my parents had a secret hiding place for a spare key in case no one was home when I got home from school. Our spare key was in a pair of old shoes outside the back porch and it made life very easy for us and I knew people who did this.
That was the 1980s and things are different today.
Today there is far more concern around security. Criminals know many households hide a spare key somewhere. Your secret hiding place, that no one will ever guess, is obvious to criminals. Once the secret hiding place is known your home is open for any uninvited guests to come inside.
Today you need to think technology and the Kwikset 909 is a deadbolt that has the technology you need. Instead of a secret hiding place, you now have a secret code that unlocks your door.
I was considering my options when looking at my home security. There had been a few break-ins in the neighbourhood and the means of entry was the hidden spare key.
I have a friend who recently changed his locks and he said it was recommended to him and has never looked back. He could see why it was one of the best on the market.
It weighs 700 grams, is 38 x 137 x2511 mm, made in China, and requires 4 AA batteries (not included).
The Kwikset 909 has a lot of features that make it one of the best. With a one-touch motorised locking deadbolt and the keypad that lights up so it can see in the dark, it is easy to use. There is a feature that locks the door after 30 seconds as well as up to 8 access codes plus a master code.
The locking device is ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 certified and the lifetime warranty on the mechanisms and the finish each give peace of mind. The electronics come with a 12-month warranty.
If you're looking to upgrade your security and change your locks to more secure locks this is a solution. If you have members of your household who need entry while you are out this is far safer than hiding a key for them. The Kwikset 909 improves security.
This product is for anyone looking to upgrade their deadbolt, to an electronic one. If you are someone who forgets to lock the front door, or you forget to take your keys with you.
If this is the case, then this product is for you. Having an electronic deadbolt will complement other security devices you may already have.
One simple thing to note is to inform other people in your household or office who use the
lock when you change the codes for any reason.
The feature that stands out for me with the Kwikset 909 is its self-locking mechanism. Over and above this the device is quick and easy to fit, it took me under 20 minutes. The fact it lights up is a great feature, I often get home from work late and using the lock in the dark is easy.
I can tell if the door's locked or unlocked thanks to a green or amber light that flashes meaning I don’t have to guess. There is a security feature on the unit that prevents you from entering random access codes. Inputting a wrong or random code the lock beeps and locks you out for a minute until you enter the correct code.
The beep is quite loud and while it could be a nuisance if you use the wrong code, I do appreciate its purpose.
Using nothing but a screwdriver, it needs no hard wiring and is quick and easy to install. The device fits most standard doors and in most cases, no holes need to drilling for the screws to fit. It takes a couple of minutes to set the codes of the lock using a designed tool that comes with the unit.
This tool is to change the batteries or reset your codes, and this makes the entire device even more secure. I change my codes every six weeks or so.
Take note that if you need to drill a hole for the deadbolt to fit in, this slows down the installation.
What do you get in the package?
There are other electronic locks on the market that cost more and have more features. Yet, the Kwikset 909 lives up to its name being quick to install and set up.
The ease of use stands out above all else with this product and value for money, it is hard to beat. A final pointer is to remember to change the batteries.
